"The kind (of patience) I’m thinking of is dynamic and lasting. Staying with something, with hope, yes, but also enduring something with strength and gratitude even when perhaps the greatest desires of our hearts are delayed and seem very far off in the distance." Thank you, Kateri.

Patience isn't easy for so many especially in the fast paced society we live with n where our attention is in being taken in multiple directions at once. Patience requires being open to breathing in and out, calming the pace, and getting outside of our bubble. Being in nature helps us do that.

I'm longing for more time to travel, but I must be patient as I pay down some debt first. So, in the mean time, I travel in books, movies, my mind...as I wait patiently as my debt decreases, so my savngs can once again grow.

So wise, Kimberly. Our grandparents told us this, didn't they? Good things come to those who wait. For me it's the actual act of patience, and how I choose to embody it, that is my practice. I love that being in nature is part of your practice. Thank you!! I hope you are traveling again so soon.

What a beautiful and deep way of viewing patience- the story of the father with his sons …and how it will pay off in the future - possibly with their own children. I don’t like I’ve viewed patience in my own life in terms of having a ripple effect. Just love this! ❤️

I am so grateful to have read this stunning, evocative writing. I feel uplifted by the patience of that heron. We have so much to learn, often not from other humans. For me, patience is in waiting and working toward healing from childhood trauma. It cannot be rushed — that much I have learned over my almost 70 years of life. I think of my patient journey as an upward spiral that broadens and gives me more space and breathe as I climb. Along the way, I have experienced profound joys and wrenching pain. These days there is so much more joy, often as I walk in the woods and experience oneness with the trees. I love that their roots are entwined, supporting each other. Sometimes I stand in awe, thinking of the commitment and caring that is beneath my feet, out of sight. I learn about patience when I am with the trees, and when I go home, I wrap my arms around my spouse, I talk to my now-adult daughter, who is my miracle and with whom my roots are so deeply entwined. And I continue my journey, patience at its root

Audrey, thank you. This really touched me. All of it. And this really hit home: "I think of my patient journey as an upward spiral that broadens and gives me more space and breathe as I climb." A therapist that helped me begin to find my tools to heal from trauma used to say that life can be seen as a spiral. I have have always embraced that since, but the way you have described really hits home. I am going to write that in my journal. I am so glad you are here with me.
