So, beautiful, Kateri! Thank you! 🤍Your painting, so magical! These words “ It’s about the mystery of what arrives when we let go. The girl doesn’t ask for anything. She doesn’t expect to be saved. She simply walks forward, giving what she has, staying true to her own gentleness. She enters the threshold space—naked, uncertain, luminous—and something meets her there. “

oh, this really hits home for me. I can only think of some words, now: devotion, attention.

I'm think liminal space is always quietly doing the "work" in the background, even when you're not giving if your fullest faith, trust, attention. by which I mean: the space is always there to return to. does that make any sense? like all knowledge but without the knowing... I have to ponder some more, it seems :)

your writing is beautiful, Kateri, I feel like I can almost touch the thought. it's so clear and true.

oh, I do love Tricia Murray's Hermit, to me it looks like a thoughtful bird looking out over the ocean. (I feel like my Hermit-self is only fully present when I'm near the sea so I really connect to the image..)

The duality of the Hermit you describe—the steady turtle and the receptive bird—is fascinating. It’s like you’re capturing two fundamental ways of being in the world. I often find myself oscillating between these two states. Sometimes, I’m the one diligently tending the flame, keeping things going through sheer persistence. Other times, I’m the one who needs to be still, to listen, to let the light come to me. It's a beautiful way to think about solitude and self-reflection. It's not just about being alone; it's about how we hold ourselves within that aloneness. Are we actively seeking, or are we allowing ourselves to be found? This really made me pause and consider which "Hermit" I’ve been embodying lately, and which one I need to embrace more fully.
