Writing ANYTHING after reading your essay is too challenging for words, so I'll just say THANK YOU SO MUCH for sharing in such a beautiful, touching, tangible way. I turned 52 last week and I'm still 100% in this incredibly discombobulating, alien, "who's this woman in the mirror" phase, with health issues and menopause sprinkled on top, where I "can't imagine myself reaching old age", so reading how at 60 you look and feel blessed with such a zest for life and appetite for beauty is both inspirational and soothing. Big hugs and happy belated birthday, you beautiful fellow traveller.

I have no words to describe what I have just read. Knowing all of it, remembering all of what you went through. No words. I feel it in my heart and soul. You are my shinning star. My first born. But, your words written down for reading, are beyond the words written down from the classics. I have many pieces you have written in the past in hard copies and await the novel you have been working on for years. Precious love to you. Mama

Dear Friend: I read your essay as I sat in my back garden, sharing a tunafish sandwich with my wonderful dog River. And listening to the birds in my maple tree and my corkscrew willow. And soaking in the painful purple blooms on the clematis. And because I can experience these things in my life (without the words to capture them), I know a bit of how other people might be experiencing their own lives. Like you!
