New Workshop!
The Quiet Spark of Flowers
I am delighted to share a new watercolour workshop with you.
This one is called The Quiet Spark of Summer Flowers, and it grew from a simple question that has become increasingly important in my own creative practice:
What is essential here?
When we first begin painting flowers, it is easy to become overwhelmed by petals, details, and complexity. Yet every flower has a few shapes, colours, and gestures that make it unmistakably itself.
A cosmos is not a zinnia.
A zinnia is not a dahlia.
Each carries its own quiet spark.
In this workshop, we will paint six beautiful summer flowers while learning how to observe from life, simplify what we see, and create fresh, expressive watercolour paintings using clear washes and simple brushwork.
But--the flowers are only the beginning.
What we are really practicing is a way of seeing.
As artists, we are constantly making choices about what to include, what to leave out, and how to distill the world around us into something meaningful. Learning to recognize the essential character of a flower helps us do the same with birds, trees, teacups, landscapes, and the ordinary objects that fill our lives.
The goal is not perfection.
The goal is understanding.
The goal is learning to see through your own artist’s eyes.
Workshop Details
• This self-paced workshop is $38 USD
• All video lessons will be delivered in one email on July 26, 2026
• Work at your own pace and return to the lessons whenever you wish
• Suitable for beginners and experienced painters alike. You will need a basic set of watercolours, a pointed round brush in a size like 4 or 6, and watercolour paper or sketchbook. A pencil and eraser are also good to have nearby.
• You will have access to a message board here in my Patreon community chat, to share your work, support others and to ask me any questions that might come up. I check in every day.
